Waxing Moon in Capricorn

Today's Capricorn Moon wants us up and moving, working our plan. Emerging into this sign of Cardinal Earth overnight, the Moon joined the asteroid Ceres at 1 degree of Capricorn, and then Pluto, lord of the underworld, at 3 degrees.

Capricorn, ruled by Saturn, is hard working, determined, and steadfast, prepared to stay the course no matter what to achieve the goal. Those characteristics are reinforced by Ceres, the Roman Demeter, who never gave up until her beloved daughter was recovered, and Pluto the inexorable.

Later today, the Moon squares Saturn in Libra (exact at 5:58pm EDT). This square, with balanced Saturn challenging the Moon in his own sign, asks us to stand firm, stay grounded, and get going. A sextile with Mercury in Libra just after midnight (12:09am), clarifies our ability to think, plan, and communicate what we need and want.

There could be no better image of the rewards of hard work, steady progress, and balance than the images of the Chilean miners reunited with their families and communities after months trapped in Pluto's depths. In the midst of conflicts between peoples and nations, this rescue offers another image of what is possible when we pool our resources and talents.

Everywhere on Earth, people watch as the miners emerge one by one from their confinement. The rescue capsule is called Phoenix, and each man rescued is reborn after great trials.
