Waxing Moon in Aquarius

The Moon is in Aquarius has the ability to step back from emotions, consider them objectively, think about the bigger picture, and look at situations in a new way. Early this morning, the Moon trined Saturn is balanced Libra, reinforcing this calm, practical approach to emotions.

The Moon's only other aspect today is a challenging square with Venus in Scorpio, exact at 10:09 am. Venus is retrograde, and over the past weeks has taken us beneath the surface of our relationships, our creativity, and our finances (Venus being one of the money planets). We're surfacing old feelings, looking at patterns, diving into messy situations, and wondering what to do with it all.

Today's Moon-Venus square can help, if we engage the energies in a positive way. Aquarius and Scorpio are both fixed signs, tending to stand their ground in the face of challenge and refuse to budge. So one way we could experience this square is a surge of resistance, seeing all the ways we were right and other people (and circumstances) were wrong.

A more productive way might be to engage the objectivity and innovation of Aquarius to look at ourselves and our lives in radically new ways. To avoid getting stuck in any one view, generate as many alternatives as you can, including ridiculous ones, to get yourself thinking outside the box.

This technique of generating alternatives is helpful in working our way out of depression, one of Scorpio's quagmires. When we're depressed, we go automatically and always to the worst possible interpretation of whatever we're down about. Coming up with other scenarios helps us shift into a more positive, active place.

Generative thinking is also a hallmark of innovators, and Aquarius loves innovation. People who find creative solutions to problems come up with lots of ideas. They don't magically find the one right solution, they think of lots of possibilities and try them out.

So wherever we've been feeling stuck, we can work with today's Aquarius Moon to innovate and revolutionize. Try on new glasses. Look at things sideways. Stand on our heads. Listen for flashes of intuition. Question authority, especially our own.
