Waxing Moon in Capricorn

The Moon steps into heavy Capricornian work boots at 4:39am EDT today, spits into her palm, grabs a shovel, and digs in. Capricorn is cardinal Earth, a sign of hard work, determination, and reliability, and the Moon's key words for today.

Right now, early Capricorn is home to Pluto the transformer, so the Moon joins her energy with his as he holds the corner square in the great Cardinal Cross. We may find Plutonian aspects of the Cardinal Cross emphasized today: a hard look at authority structures, big organizations, and power; an unearthing of secrets we need to face, bringing uncomfortable truths to the surface; and a breaking down of forms that are no longer working, so something better can be built.

Echoing Pluto's position, the Moon challenges Saturn in square at 4:55am, squares Uranus at 5:33am, squares Jupiter at 11:14am, and joins Pluto at 11:18am EDT. These past months, Pluto has brought many things to our attention in the economy, in corporate structures, in governments, and in the environment. Today, the Moon moves through this difficult terrain.

As the Moon passes through Pluto's territory, emotions may intensify. We may have a visceral response to what we see going on in the world around us. We may feel threatened, presented with challenges to our safety and security. We might also be offered a perspective from the past, a chance to consider how these issues now brought to light have been developing over time, and perhaps a new understanding of the historical processes involved. All of these––emotions, the body, security, and the past––are part of the Moon.

Capricorn can be associated with depression, one possible response to the many challenges facing us. But the remedy is hard work, which Capricorn rewards with success. Perhaps today's challenge is to allow ourselves to experience whatever the Moon and Pluto bring, and put the resulting insights to work in building a better world.
