New Moon Eclipse in Cancer

Today, this afternoon at 3:41pm EDT, we will reach the turning point of the New Moon in Cancer. I've written and talked about this time and the meanings it might hold for each of us, and find myself this morning with a feeling of waiting and no additional words. Well, not too many, anyway.

This time is a gateway. The sign of Cancer was itself considered a gateway. As the highest point of the Sun in the sky (in the Northern hemisphere) at the Summer Solstice, Cancer was the Gate of Man, the point through which souls descended into bodies to begin another round on Earth. Her opposite, the Gate of Souls, is Capricorn, the time of the Winter Solstice, and the gate through which departing souls pass to other worlds.

So this is a hinge time, one made more powerful by the New Moon Eclipse. What we do now will echo through time in ways we cannot fully anticipate.

Let me introduce you today the the Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers, if you have not already met them. Women elders of power and healing, they were called to give us a message about how we are living on our Earth Mother. Their website tells of events and projects, and YouTube offers trailers from the film For the Next 7 Generations, about their work.

On the New Moon Eclipse in Cancer, listening to wise mothers is a good thing to be doing.
