Waxing Moon in Sagittarius

The Moon enters Sagittarius at 8:52am EDT this morning, emerging from Scorpio's depths into the warmth of Jupiter's welcoming embrace. This flexible Fire sign enjoys life, ready to celebrate with food, drink and lively conversation.

Sagittarius is a genial host whose interests expand far beyond mere socializing: This is the sign of exploration, higher learning, and philosophy. Jupiter, ruler of Sagittarius, is called the guru in Vedic astrology. So along with enthusiasm and hospitality, today's Sagittarius Moon brings a desire for understanding.

Sagittarius is the archer, the centaur, moving swiftly towards his goals. The archetype of the horse-man combines base "animal" instincts with insight and self control. Out of control centaurs could be bestial indeed, and yet with self mastery become the wisest of mentors. So today's Sagittarius Moon carries the raw energies we bring back from Scorpio's depths. Our task is to integrate, to "tame" what we gained from our time in the Shadow, so we too become sages.

Blake's Centaur
The Sagittarius Moon challenges Mercury in Virgo in a square that is exact at 6:39pm. Flexible fire challenges flexible Earth. Mercury has emerged from his retrograde period, his own time in the depths, and the Sag Moon wants to hear all about it. What have we learned? How does it connect with previous experience? How will we apply this learning? What, now, is our philosophy?

At 7:02pm, this expansive Moon flows energy in sextile with Saturn in balanced Libra, another sign to ground what we've learned in the real. Saturn carries the energy of manifestation, and we are in the growing part of the lunar cycle. Now we channel what we've learned to support our emerging wishes and intentions, providing a framework so our seeds can sprout and climb.
